Jarod and his wife Cassandra, along with their children, have been serving with RHMA as church strengthening missionaries since 2011 after Jarod graduated with a Masters in Theology (ThM) from Dallas Theological Seminary. After serving a country church in Redington, Nebraska for four years, the Lord led them to serve at Chesterfield Bible Church in a small rural village in south central Illinois. The Walston family has been discipling, building relationships, equipping, developing leaders, and sharing God's Word at their current ministry for the past eight years since 2017. Jarod earned his Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree at Dallas Theological Seminary in 2024 specializing in rural pastoral ministry. Through his studies as a doctoral student and experience as a pastor, he self-published a book titled "Pastoring the Small Rural Church: Embracing Ministry in Little-Known Places." His dissertation focused on researching stress management strategies among pastoral families serving small rural churches. His wife Cassandra is focused on home educating their children and supporting her husband in ministry. They have eight children, two girls and six boys: Hannah (16), Hunter (14), Kyler (13), Eva (11), Kilian (10), Ezekiel (7), Isaiah (5), Malachi (3).
